Designed in 1953, the D.153.1 armchair is part of the furnishings of Gio Ponti’s private residence on Via Dezza in Milan. This reissue is produced by Molteni & C based on original drawings from Ponti’s archives. It features a brass frame and is upholstered in either two-tone white and blue leather or “Punteggiato” fabric, designed by Ponti for Rubelli in 1934. The fabric reinterprets the traditional velvet weaving technique, updating it with contemporary patterns such as closely spaced, staggered discs in varying color gradations. Exhibited at the 2012 Salone del Mobile, the D.153.1 chair enriches the Gio Ponti furniture collection.
