In 1950, Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel created an unusual bowl-shaped seat, essentially a basket suspended from a lightweight oak frame. Their design fused the seat and back into a cohesive, shell-like bowl, distinguished by its organic form and materials. The use of handcrafted materials and the meticulous skill in crafting the chair’s rounded shape and clean lines exude a sense of comfort and luxury, offering a wide range of seating positions.
