The Augusto sofa, by Belgian designer Vincent Van Duysen, is an exploration of contrasts: where the past meets the present and technical innovation joins the expert craftsmanship of Molteni&C. The key to Augusto’s timeless aesthetic is the balance between the soft, upholstered seats and the sophistication of its modern metal frame, creating a harmonious and unique design that blends seamlessly into a multitude of environments. To enhance Augusto’s unique silhouette, an elegant piping runs along the cushions, defining their shape.
When designing the Augusto sofa, Van Duysen started from the idea of total comfort. He carefully examined the way the body sinks into its bulky seat, reclines on the padded backrest, or simply rests on its elegant square armrests. Only once these factors were determined did he begin to form the silhouette, which incorporates a metal base that runs around the perimeter of the sofa, emphasizing its volume and making it look super light.
