TWIGGY GRIDLETTURA OUTDOOR
Marc SadlerOutdoor floor lamp with direct downward light. Diffuser and post in composite material on a fiberglass base painted with liquid. The diffuser is made of strips of composite material modeled manually on the mold. The superimposed ribbons create the braided surface that is later painted by hand. The bottom and top edges have one more tape wrap to complete the diffuser. In the center, a transparent PMMA plate with laser incisions captures and diffuses the light from the multi-chip LEDs installed on the perimeter of the aluminum structure that acts as a heatsink.
Foscarini and Marc Sadler's passion for research into new technologies has given rise to very iconic projects, such as Twiggy, an arch-shaped post in composite material on an enameled fiberglass base. For outdoor use, the project was completely redesigned in the technical part of the lighting and in the aesthetics of the diffuser, which in the outdoor version of Grid is intertwined. The reading and table versions stand out successfully for their synthesis between the simplicity of the form and the marked personality: they have the same diffuser and the same post base, but the post develops vertically.
