HEXAGON
Marc Merckx Pieter MaesThat nature is an unlimited source of inspiration for new designs that Marc Merckx proves with his Hexagon tables. First, the designer was inspired by the Giant’s Causeway, a rock formation in Northern Ireland on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The teak base of the table refers to the hexagonal basalt pillars of the wonder of the world. In addition, Merckx bets on increased proportions: hence the honeycomb with its perfect if was its second source of inspiration.
The Hexagon tabletop is made of enameled lava stone, with a crackle effect that highlights the stone’s natural imperfections. The enamel coating makes the table water, heat, frost, UV, and stain-resistant. Hexagon is just as beautiful on its own as part of a group of multiple elements.
