FIAM was born from one man’s passion for glass.
Founded by Vittorio Livi in 1973, FIAM designs, develops, and produces furniture items made of curved glass, creating them through a blend of craftsmanship and industrial processes, effectively blending tradition and innovation, handcrafting and design. Vittorio Livi developed a profound appreciation for glass from a very young age. Glass, simultaneously solid and fragile, natural and artificial, ancient and industrial, embodies a mass of seeming contradictions, and Livi cherished it for precisely that reason, as well as for its practical qualities. Glass is environmentally friendly and hygienic: though it may appear simple due to its transparency, both its chemistry and physics are remarkably complex.
