KURAGE
Luca Nichetto NendoFrom the collaboration between the Italian designer Luca Nichetto and the multidisciplinary workgroup Nendo, founded by the Japanese architect Oki Sato, a new project with a light, poetic and artisanal style was born: the Kurage table lamp. Kurage in Japanese means jellyfish; this lamp resembles a sea animal that dances lightly, rocked by a soft luminosity obtained thanks to the use of high-quality Japanese washi paper. The diffuser is simply supported on a transparent structure studied ad hoc to guarantee the absence of shadows. Kurage is made thanks to a particular technique of three-dimensional elaboration of handmade washi paper. Using fibers from the mulberry tree, a smooth and porous paper is obtained while simultaneously filtering the light, creating a relaxed, warm and exciting atmosphere capable of seducing the intellect and the heart. The project is completed by four slim legs in natural-colored ash wood, the white ceramic lamp holder, and the electric cable covered with a paper fiber sheath.
