MITE
Marc SadlerFloor lamp with diffused and indirect light. The diffuser is obtained through an artisanal process in which a Kevlar® cable is foreseen for the yellow version and carbon for the black version on glass fabric. Internal stem in metal; the upper parabola in brushed steel acts as a block for the diffuser on the stem and a reflector of light inside the diffuser. Based on nickel-plated steel, the transparent cable has a dimmer acting as a gradual light intensity regulator and an on/off switch.
The collaboration between Foscarini and Marc Sadler begins with Mite, a floor lamp so innovative that it was awarded the Compasso d'Oro in 2001. For Mite, the company and designer have developed a special patent: a mixture of fiberglass and carbon thread or Kevlar®, which serves as a decoration and load-bearing structure simultaneously. A technology already used for producing fishing rods, paddles, and golf clubs is used for the first time in the lighting world. Its circular floor plan is drawn upwards, where the light source is located. Thanks to a set of internal parabolas, Mite guarantees optimal lighting, projecting an intense and warm beam of light towards the ceiling. On the other hand, the internal lighting enhances the decoration and its slender shape. Mite furnishes any environment with an unobtrusive presence and elegant personality.
