Jean Nouvel designed a virtuoso hanging bookcase, consisting of a single shelf anchored to the wall and ceiling. From there, steel uprights support the wood and aluminum shelves, which appear to float lightly in a volume of air. The metal uprights have graduated notches for adjusting the shelves, which are “magically” held in place by invisible hooks.
