The Masters chair is a clever homage to three iconic chairs, reinterpreted and reimagined by the creative genius of Starck: Arne Jacobsen’s “Series 7,” Eero Saarinen’s “Tulip Armchair,” and Charles Eames’ “Eiffel Chair.” Their unmistakable silhouettes intertwine in a hybrid, sinuous chair, resulting in an original and captivating fusion of styles. Supported by four slender legs, the Masters seat is wide and comfortable. Its unique finish gives it a sensuously velvety feel. The chair’s true distinguishing feature is, of course, its backrest, characterized by solid surfaces and recesses created by the curvilinear interlacing of three distinct backrests that descend to converge at the seat’s perimeter. Lightweight, practical, stackable, and available in numerous colors, Masters can also be used outdoors. The Masters chair has been awarded the prestigious “Good Design Award 2010” by the Chicago Athenaeum – Museum of Architecture and Design.
