Living Box

Living Box, designed by Vincent van Duysen, takes a typically architectural project such as a building, a stage for concerts and conferences, or a monumental space, and scales it down, transforming it into a domestic object with unique characteristics and marked by new forms of utilization.

The Living Box is a low, rectangular container of significant size (230, 280, 330, 380), lacking doors, where the interior and exterior contrast through the use of different materials. The exterior is characterized by a wide support surface, where marbles and woods are employed to decorate the surface, arranged according to distinctive geometric patterns. The furniture is enclosed within a frame, in an iris and peltro color, appearing quite slim when viewed from above, but when observed from the front, it transforms into a substantial thickness profile that delineates the internal module.

LED lighting softly and delicately illuminates it. The interior space is completely free and devoid of sharp edges, thanks to special curved corner covers. Consequently, the embodied space is available to accommodate any type of object that one wishes to support and display.
