KITE
Marc SadlerThe collaboration between Foscarini and Marc Sadler begins with Mite, a floor lamp so innovative that it was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 2001. For Mite, the company and designer have developed a special material: a mixture of fiberglass and carbon thread or Kevlar®, which serves as a decoration and load-bearing structure simultaneously. A technology already used for producing fishing rods, paddles, and golf clubs, which is used for the first time in the lighting world. The extreme flexibility of this material -light and resistant at the same time- has made it possible to design a whole collection of lamps for multiple uses.
This is how Kite is born, the wall lamp that, even in its shape, seems to copy a section of Mite’s body, whose volume is slightly flattened against the wall. The light source uniformly illuminates the Kite diffuser, highlighting the decoration of the lamp and projecting an intense and warm light beam downwards and upwards. Mini-Kite is the small version of Kite and its versatility makes it suitable for any environment, domestic or contract, furnishing with the elegant personality that characterizes the entire collection.
