Vincent Van Duysen was born in Lokeren, Belgium, in 1962, and obtained his diploma in Architecture at the Higher Institute of Architecture Sint-Lucas, Ghent. Van Duysen’s work establishes a solid connection between his designs and architectural projects. He approaches the creation of furniture and objects from an architectural perspective, prioritizing the generation of spatial relationships over the conformation of forms. His furniture pieces represent scaled-down versions of his architectural work, conveying a sense of purity and essentialism while maintaining a tactile and grounded quality. In addition, many of his designs allude to essential and traditional forms, as well as recognized works of art, which Van Duysen reinterprets from a contemporary point of view.
