Flos is an Italian lighting editor founded in 1962 in Merano, turning designs by designers such as Achille Castiglioni and Michael Anastassiades into lamps made mainly in Italy. As an official Flos distributor, Oboe Muebles lists 43 Flos pieces you can go through with our team in Málaga and Marbella. On this page you will find the current Flos catalogue at Oboe, the story behind the marque, and how to request a quote or book an advisor.
The story behind Flos
Flos began in 1962 in Merano with manufacturer Eisenkeil, alongside Dino Gavina and Arturo Eisenkeil; Sergio Gandini took over direction in 1963. The name means flower in Latin and was chosen by Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Early lamps used the American cocoon technique of sprayed resin, seen in pieces such as Taraxacum. The same year brought the Arco floor lamp, with its Carrara marble base. In 1972 Flos featured in the MoMA exhibition Italy: The New Domestic Landscape. Since December 2018 it has formed part of the Flos B&B Italia Group, with Roberta Silva as CEO from 2019.
