GAN: Valencian tradition, hand-made in India
Gandía Blasco S.A. was founded in 1941 by José Gandía Blasco, with its centre at calle Músico Vert 4, Ontinyent, Valencia. GAN was created as its rug brand in 2008, though the textile work runs deeper: the first Hand Tufted collection, in 100% wool, appeared in 1990, designed by Sandra Figuerola and Marisa Gallén. Every GAN collection is made in India by artisans working with natural or recycled fibres. In 2010, during the Bandas project, the GAN Women Unit was formed, with its craftswomen paid a fair wage. Patricia Urquiola's Mangas Original, from 2009, received the Red Dot award.
