The ToTo coffee table from Zanotta rests on a steel frame finished in matt black varnish, a graphic base that sets the tone of the piece. The top is made of sheet steel and comes in two very different readings. The first wraps the surface in cowhide pigmentato 90, available in gold, black, anthracite and mud shades, always paired with a foot in glossy black painted beech.
The second route is mineral: a top in white Carrara marble sitting on a foot of glossy white RAL 9010 painted beech, or a top in green Alpi marble matched with a foot of glossy green RAL 6012 painted beech. In each case the base echoes the dominant tone of the top, so the piece reads as a single block of material resting on its dark steel structure.
A low counterpoint for the living room
ToTo belongs in living rooms where the coffee table is treated as an object in its own right. The cowhide versions suit warmer, more domestic settings alongside quiet sofas and woven rugs. The marble variants lean towards a more contemporary mood and sit well with neutral upholstered armchairs, artisan ceramics and clean-lined floor lamps.
