The J104 chair stands out for its curved backrest that perfectly adapts to the back. Designed by Poul M. Volther for Hay, this chair comes in different versions and finishes. In the 1940s, Hay conceived the Danish Consumer Cooperative (FDB) collection to make good-quality design accessible to a wider audience at reasonable prices. The Porta Volta Chair is striking. The defining design element is the U-shaped, curved solid wood backrest, which creates a warm and inviting feel. The flexible backrest extends to form armrests. If desired, the backrest can be split in two with a customizable cushion. Three U-shaped crossbars with a unique curved "toothed joint" lend the piece a special refinement.
