Floor lamp with diffused and direct light. Diffuser obtained through a handcrafted process involving the application of a carbon cable over a fiberglass fabric. The collaboration between Foscarini and Marc Sadler began with Mite, a floor lamp so innovative that it won the Compasso d'Oro in 2001. For Mite, the company and designer developed a special patent: a blend of fiberglass and carbon fiber that simultaneously serves as decoration and a supporting structure. This technology, already used in the production of fishing rods, oars, and golf clubs, was being used for the first time in the world of lighting. The extreme flexibility of this material—lightweight yet strong—has allowed for the design of an entire collection of lamps for multiple uses.
