Exhibited in museums and undeniably contributing to the awarding of the National Design Prize in 1997, it has been considered a contemporary classic since 1997. Riva 1920 products are made with solid wood from sustainably managed reforestation areas. Among the types of wood used are maple, cherry, oak, and walnut, but also reclaimed woods that Riva incorporates into its furniture production, reminding us that wood is a renewable but not inexhaustible resource: Kauri, the ancient wood of New Zealand; cedar; and the wood from briccole, the oak poles used in Venice as signals and tide indicators, which must be replaced periodically due to wear and tear.
