Among the types of wood used are maple, cherry, oak, and walnut, but also reclaimed woods that Riva incorporates into its furniture production, reminding us that wood is a renewable but not inexhaustible resource: Kauri, the ancient wood of New Zealand; cedar; and the wood from briccole, the oak poles used in Venice as signals and tide indicators, which must be replaced periodically due to wear and tear.
