  • During 1941 and 1942, the Ateliers Jean Prouvé designed and executed several interior design projects for the chemical company Solvay. This contract resulted in numerous designs, including a wooden table that exemplifies Prouvé's construction methods: its structural details demonstrate the interplay of forces and tensions, as was later the case with the EM Table, which differs from its predecessor in its metal legs. The solid woods and oil finish give the Solvay table a refined and simple look that compensates for the technical coldness of the design.

This makes it a flexible solution for everyday relaxation as well as for improvising a comfortable guest bed.

Its structure is lightweight yet sturdy, with a robust metal base and elegant solid oak legs that add warmth and sophistication. The pocket-spring mattress ensures superior comfort, whether used as a sofa or a bed, and its compact design makes it perfect for small spaces where style isn't compromised.

Where does the Splitback Frej fit in?

  • Sprint is a light, fresh, and harmonious seating program. This harmony stems from the curvilinear shapes of its arms and backrest, which lend it an easily understood and sinuous form. The gentleness of its inner curves contrasts with the straight lines of its easily recognizable outer shape. The entire system is supported by slender, elegant legs that give it its modern and understated appearance. The thin, continuous seat further emphasizes its visual lightness. The Sprint collection allows for numerous combinations to adapt to a variety of spaces and environments. The Sprint-full version replaces the quadrant cushions with ones that cover the entire structure, thus eliminating the gaps in the backrest. The covers are fully removable, except when upholstered in leather or leatherette with a non-removable frame.
