FIAM Italia since 1973
Fiam was founded in 1973 by Vittorio Livi in Tavullia, in Italy's Le Marche region. Its first piece, the Onda Pouf, was designed and produced by Livi and reissued for the company's 50th anniversary. In 1984 the brand presented Ragno, described as the first table made from a single block of glass. Production remains in-house: the furnaces are designed and built within the company and reach between 650° and 900°C. Livi received the Compasso d'Oro for lifetime achievement in 2001 and the Leonardo Italian Quality Award in 2016. Fiam is certified UNI EN ISO 9001:2008.
Cast glass and the DV-GLASS patent
Fiam works curved and fused glass into tables, consoles, mirrors, display cabinets, bookcases, desks, lighting, chairs and sofas. The material is essentially sand and lime, aseptic and non-toxic, with no release of harmful substances, according to the brand. DV-GLASS, patented in 2018, is made from fused sheet offcuts and reaches up to 30 mm thick. Each item carries an indelible transfer applied at high temperature. The LLT collection draws on the architect Frank Lloyd Wright, while the Venus mirrors are fused at high temperature in 8 mm glass.
