Kettal began in 1966 as a European family business making aluminium camping equipment. Its founder, Manuel Alorda, joined the names Kettler and Alorda. In the early 2000s the company acquired Hugonet and Triconfort to form Kettal Group, now present in more than 80 countries. The head office is in Barcelona, and every product is made in its own facilities in a coastal town 45 km away. The range runs from sofas, armchairs, chairs and tables to daybeds, sun loungers, parasols, pergolas, lamps and rugs, with indoor and office lines added over time.
Materials built for a seaside setting
Kettal designs its own finishes. Terrain paints for aluminium, created by Doshi Levien, use polyester applied by electrostatic powder coating, while Aluwood gives aluminium a wood-grain finish. Bela Rope, also by Doshi Levien, is 100% polypropylene, and the brand pairs its own synthetic rattan-like fibre with teak from sustainably managed plantations. Kettal recommends periodic maintenance of the paint, especially in coastal or industrial environments, and teak left outdoors takes on a silver-grey patina.
